News & Updates
NEWS UPDATE # 1:
For those of you who have been following us around Pennsylvania the last few years...
WE'VE MOVED AGAIN!
Don't worry, we're still training and riding out of the same great facility as we've been (Double M Stable & Arena) - but we recently purchased a home where we can plant some real roots. We're very excited about this new move, especially as it is within minutes of the training barn. (New address is at the bottom of this email). We rang in the New Year in our new home... but I was the only one allowed to drink the champagne, which brings me to...
NEWS UPDATE # 2:
We are now expecting the addition of a little cowboy or cowgirl to the family! Yes, Nicole is 'in foal' and we have an expected due date near the 10th of July. Very exciting stuff!

Horsemanship Tip for January

Driving Forward with Your Horsemanship Goals in 2010
Every time a new year rolls around, it's a chance for us to reflect on the progress that we have made, or not, in the previous year and set new goals and dreams for the year to come. We write a long list of things to accomplish for the coming year and post it on the fridge. But by the end of January, that list is hidden under grocery lists, 'honey-do' messages, and cookie recipes.... and once we find the list again, we're just so frustrated that we give up. Or worse, we decide to take another shot at it, and let it slide all over again anyway. Statistics show that by January 15, 90% of us have already given up on our new year's resolutions.
Don't let this happen with your goals. Whether they are horsemanship, personal, business, financial, relationship... whatever your goals, set yourself up for success instead of failure. Here's a few tips:
Set Yourself Up for Success Don't make goals like: lose weight, become a better rider, attend more clinics or take more lessons. Be specific. "Become a better rider" is entirely too general... but "be able to maintain my seat and canter around the arena for two laps without losing my balance by November 4" is more concrete and attainable.
Break Your Goals Down into Steps or Stages This is easily applied to any resolution. If you want to attend more clinics, which clinic will you attend in March? April? May? Instead of resolving to lose weight, decide to work out for 20 minutes each day for two weeks, and then renegotiate with yourself. Momentum is your greatest friend when it comes to achieving goals. Keeping small steps helps you see incremental progress, which helps keep you motivated.
Be Accountable This one is great! We can decide in our head that we're going to accomplish something, but we'll lie to ourselves and make up excuses about not getting things done. Once you've decided on a goal and broken it down into smaller increments, tell someone that will hold you accountable. You're liable to work harder to not disappoint someone else than yourself.
Checkpoints for Celebration As part of being accountable for your goal, write in certain days on your calendar to check in and review your progress. Check in with yourself and with your 'accountability partner', see how far your coming along with your goal, and celebrate or reevaluate as necessary.
With a little practice and persistence, you'll be driving full speed ahead with all of your goals in 2010, and enjoying the journey to accomplishment.

Upcoming Events
Clinics - Courses - Workshops - ExposWe're in the process of coordinating our 2010 schedule. This year we will be again conducting our 5 day horsemanship courses at our training facility in Acme, PA, to include Horsemanship Fundamentals as well as Horsemanship 1 and 2, and also our Trail Horsemanship and Beginner Cow Working Course. We're giving some thought as well to adding a Buckaroo Boot Camp and a Women's Confidence Course. We'll be traveling again for clinics, workshops, and other events in 2010. If you'd like to host an event in your area, please contact us soon so that we can get the best possible dates lined up for you. If you'd like to see Patrick present at an expo or other event in your area, be sure to contact the event's management soon and make your request. It can be difficult to schedule clinics around some of those events, so the sooner we get them planned, the better. MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Patrick's Mastering Communication Conference, now in it's third year, is scheduled for April 24-25 at the Westmoreland Fairgrounds in Greensburg, PA. It's going to be even better than last year - plan to come, and drag all your friends along, too!

We are currently in the planning stage for our 2010 Mastering Communication Conference (set for April 24-25), and we'd love it if you could send us your ideas
on topics you would like to see, hear, and learn about during this
great event. So take some time to think about the horsemanship
challenges you might be facing, or questions that you might have, and
take a minute to send us an email with your topic ideas.
Have you got ideas on how we can better advertise and market the 2010 Mastering Communication Conference? We'd love to hear your thoughts on that, also.
From all the emails that we receive, we will draw one at random April 1, and award a free 5 day horsemanship course and 2 complimentary tickets to the 2010 Mastering Communication Conference. It's the best way we could think of to say 'Thank You' for your time and help.
