We are planning a final wind up get to together for the week of April 11th.   This final party will be when we announce the winner and present awards.  Remember  that each and everyone of you are winners!  Look how far you have come and always measure your success using many tools.

The week of April 4th your trainers will be asking you to turn in your journals for review. Everyone will get their journal back at the end of the week.

I read an interesting article this week about staying motivated to exercise.  One of the key points was about creating your own personal 'reasons list.'  They suggested keeping a piece of paper and pen handy for a couple of days and jot down EVERY reason you can think of as to why you want to get healthy/get fit/lose weight through consistent exercise. 
 
The article went on to tell real life examples and spoke of how one lady who could only think of two reasons off the bat, but then over the next few days she came up with a list of over 30. 
  
Here were a few:
 
· more energy to spend quality time with her family at night
· to be able to fit into all the clothes in her closet
· to be able to live a long, healthy life and to enjoy time with her children, husband, and grandchildren (eventually)
· to not be uncomfortable in public
· to not become breathless climbing stairs
· to be able to do "active" things with her family and friends
· to be able to play on the floor with her children
· to be able to wear nice clothes
 
It's time for you to make a long, extensive list.  You can then read this list when your motivation to exercise is wearing down. It's a powerful way to quickly get "re-motivated"!

Recpie of the Week

 

Hawaiian Chicken Kabobs

 
Ingredients
· 3 tablespoons soy sauce
· 3 tablespoons brown sugar
· 2 tablespoons sherry
· 1 tablespoon sesame oil
· 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
· 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
· 8 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into 2 inch pieces
· 1 (20 ounce) can pineapple chunks, drained
· skewers
Directions
1. In a shallow glass dish, mix the soy sauce, brown sugar, sherry, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic powder. Stir the chicken pieces and pineapple into the marinade until well coated. Cover, and marinate in the refrigerator at least 2 hours.
2. Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
3. Lightly oil the grill grate. Thread chicken and pineapple alternately onto skewers. Grill 15 to 20 minutes, turning occasionally, or until chicken juices run clear.  

Exercise of the Week
EXTERNAL ROTATORS
 

Muscles Worked: Infraspinatus, teres minor and rear deltoid.

So much of our day-to-day activities require internal rotation through the shoulder, such as driving, sitting at the computer etc. So, to avoid any imbalances, which then lead to injuries, we should emphasize conditioning our external rotators. Exercises such as reverse fly, bent over lat raise, incline lat raise and seated dumbbell external rotator cuff are good examples of exercises that can be done numerous times during the week, or incorporated into your warm-up.
