Some of you have definitely picked up the pace to give it your all for the next 4 weeks. Remember each day we make choices and each day is about lifestyle and balance.   It may be the last four weeks of Get it Back, but we hope that nothing is going to change for you.  This is not the end but the beginning of your new lifestyle.

Exercise and health is so much more than a physical commitment.  The power of our thoughts and 'head space' play such a key role in our success.

By now all of you should be making fitness a priority.  If you're not making it a priority then results and success is less likely. 

How many of you are still allowing old habits (excuses) to interfere with your progress?  Or perhaps are concerned that as the GIB GIB challenge ends that these old habits will creep back in.

One way to ensure you always make time for your health is to change your way of thinking by scheduling fitness like business meetings or appointments.  Register for programs or commit to continued sessions with a trainer.

It's week 9 people!!  WEEK 9!  Now is the time to fire things up even more.  Build off the foundation you have created to this point and shine!!

Halfway already?


I cannot believe it has been six weeks since I met all of you in person that first night.  I have but one question for you: How are things going?


This is really the critical pint in your journey.  Where lifetime habits get created or old habits take over and take you out of your game.


Next week I am offering TWO open group coaching hours
where you can call in and get coached on anything that might be challenging you.


A coach is very much like your amazing trainers - there to support you where you might normally give up.


I remember your dreams you said out loud on February 2 and I am here to help you reach them.


If you have never experienced group coaching I can tell you that you can learn as much from listening to others being coached as being coached yourself.


Coaching session times for next week are:
March 14th, Monday: 1:00 pm-2:00pm and
March 15, Tuesday: 6:00pm - 7:00 pm.

Top 10 daily detox Tips!


1. Organic, leafy green vegetables such as kale, collards, watercress, arugula, spinach, and bok choy, are jam-packed with chlorophyll, which helps rid the body of environmental toxins and works to protect the liver. Lightly diuretic, leafy greens, especially watercress and arugula, and dandelion, work with the liver to flush out toxins. Consider products like Greens+ daily detox.
 
2. Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts or cabbages. Contain sulforaphane, a compound that activates production of "phase 2" liver enzymes, which transform fat-soluble toxins into water-soluble ones that are easily secreted. It is also proven to neutralize carcinogens and xenoestrogens. Consider products such as estro-sense, her energy or male energy.
 
3. Lemon juice is a rich source of vitamin C, the ultimate detox vitamin. Lemon helps convert toxins into their water-soluble form so they are easily flushed from the system. When used every morning in a glass of water it kick starts the liver and the digestive process. For an alternative consider products like Morning Rise and Shine from Prairie Naturals.


4. Garlic. Garlic activates liver enzymes that aid the body in filtering out toxins, and bacteria. On top of that, garlic stimulates circulation and contains antibacterial compounds to help the body to cleanse efficiently.
 
5. Whole grains. In their unprocessed form, whole grains like brown rice, barley, and quinoa are excellent sources of soluble fiber, which absorb toxins and helps eliminate them.
 
6. Fresh fruit. The fiber, vitamin C, antioxidants, and nutritious juices present in whole fruits collectively increase effective detox, and overall nutrition.
 
7. Green tea. An antioxidant-rich tea (but only when brewed), this is one of the healthiest liquids around. Loaded with catechins, which improve liver function, green tea is the perfect detox-and-relax brew.
 
8. Milk Thistle. This highly researched herb contains a group of antioxidant compounds called silymarin. These compound bind to liver cells and prevent penetration from harmful chemicals. It also promotes cell regeneration and glutathione production.
 
9. NAC (N-acetylcysteine), is a precursor to glutathione( a critical enzyme and master antioxidant). It is helpful in aiding the body to excrete toxins such as mercury and other heavy metals. 
 
10. Water. Without adequate water intake cleansing efforts are ineffective. Water is needed for proper cellular, digestive and circulatory function. Lack of it causes the body to retain toxins leading to overload and increased health risk.  

 

Exercise of the Week

HAMMER CURL


 

The hammer curl targets the biceps muscles. But,

because the hands are rotated in, the forearms also get a bit more attention in this exercise. Changing the hand position can also make the exercise challenging in a different way, so you can do these in combination with regular curls or barbell curls to target the full range of the biceps and the forearms.


 

1.Stand with feet about hip-width apart, abs engaged as you hold medium-heavy dumbbells in front of the thighs.

 
2.Turn the hands so that the palms face each other and squeeze the biceps to curl the weights towards the shoulders.


3.Keep the elbows stationary and only bring the weight as high as you can without moving the elbows.


4.Slowly lower the weights, keeping a slight bend in the elbows at the bottom (e.g., don't lock the joints and try to keep tension on the muscle)

 

Repeat for 1-3 sets of 8-15 reps.
