Senate leaders join forces
to solve CTA crisis


Senator Martin A. Sandoval Chairman of the Illinois Senate Transportation Committee (right) and Illinois Senate President John J. Cullerton (left), joined forces welcoming the new CTA President Richard Rodriguez (center) recently appointed by Mayor Richard M. Daley. During the briefing, the legislative leaders discussed new plans and strategies to improve mass transportation in Chicago. Both legislative leaders' support will be of the essence to assist the CTA on its projected $155 million revenue shortfall in 2009.  Chicago Transit Authority reports an average ridership of 1.68 million boardings every day.
