Social Media Basics for Nonprofits
Social Media issues dominated the headlines in 2010. Sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and YouTube offer opportunities for nonprofits to market, network, communicate and further their programs and missions. These sites also pose legal risks for nonprofits, and the use of social media by your employees during and after work may create new legal risks for your nonprofit.
Topics will include:
- Workplace considerations: making employment decisions based on off-duty activities, screening potential employees using social media outlets, employees using social media websites during and after work, and many other employment-related issues.
- Privacy and security concerns for your nonprofit, your clients, and your employees.
- Intellectual property and branding issues.
- Social media guidelines: tailoring them to your nonprofit, communicating them to employees, and overseeing compliance.
Speaker:
Carl Schiessl, Esq.
