HSPH Prof. Walter Willett suggests that the recent Institute of Medicine recommendations on calcium and vitamin D are not the best guidelines for most individuals. Read more

Treating depression in HIV-positive patients improves treatment adherence and viral outcome, study shows

A team of researchers led by HSPH postdoctoral research fellow Alexander Tsai has found that using antidepressant medication to treat depression among HIV-positive individuals not only alleviates suffering from depression but improves adherence to HIV antiretroviral medication and virologic outcomes. Read more

HSPH Prof. Barry Bloom contributed a chapter on public-private partnership models to the United Nations Special General Assembly on the Global Strategy for Women and Children.

HHI transitions leadership of clinic in Haiti
On November 24,the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative transferred management of its medical and public health program in Fond Parisien, Haiti, to local partner Love A Child. HHI began providing support to Haitians within 48 hours of the country's devastating earthquake on January 12. Read more about HHI's work in Haiti.

Power off your computer
IT recommends users power off and power back on of all PCs once a week, and also shut down during periods of inactivity such as the weekend and holiday break to conserve energy.

Mail delivery hours
The HSPH Mail & Receiving Department will be open from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM on
December 23, 24, and 27-31, with normal deliveries resuming on January 3.
