Passengers may be able to carry liquids on planes
A team of scientists at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico is currently working on new technology that would be able to tell the difference between an explosive chemical fluid and a harmless liquid. The European Commission, the governing body for the region's air travel, has announced plans to phase out the current restrictions on traveling with liquids by the year 2013.
Skipping the lines at Customs
International frequent fliers can zip through some of the nation's busiest airport customs checkpoints using a program called global Entry, run by U.S. Customs and Border Proction. To enroll U.S. citizens and permanent resident pay $100, pass a government background check and get finger printed. The program lets you use kiosks that take about 40 seconds to clear, instead of waiting in line for hours at peak times at busy airports. |
