Low fares to Nepal

WONDERFUL VACATION
Trip: Tibet & Nepal 14 days

The hotel in Lhasa was really nice. The staff was great and so was the food. We are now back in Kathmandu. It's pouring rain, so we are using the internet cafe here at the Hyatt. This hotel is gorgeous.

We have been having a fantastic time! Thanks for setting us up with such a wonderful vacation. Our guides have been unbelievable. Kripa here in Kathmandu is wonderful. Wang Du in Tibet was outstanding. He went above and beyond in every way. His driver, Pasang La, got us everywhere safely and stress free.

I can't say enough good things about how everything has gone on this trip. Am off to Bangkok tomorrow and expect to have another wonderful, though short, adventure there. Hope all is well with you.

Thanks again.

TRAVEL INDUSTRY ON THE WAY TO RECOVERY

Airline
The 18 month recession ended in June, 2009 according to The National Bureau of Economic Research, making it the longest and deepest in the U.S. economy since the Great Depression. Airlines have reported record profits thanks to increased demand and better management. In the latest quarter alone, airlines collected $769 million in revenue in baggage fees. IATA projects 8.9 billion in airline profits for 2010. International tourism generated $852 billion in 2009 with growth forecast of 3% to 4% for 2010.

All this may sound good for the industry but will consumers benefit?  Are the airlines likely to pass the benefits to the consumers in lowering the fares and offering better services?  Probably not, if it is left to the corporations, as the top management will more likely reap the benefits.

Commonwealth Games off to a good start

Opening Ceremony
Despite pre-game mishaps and delays the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi kicked off to a spectacular start. It showcased India's emerging economic power with dazzling show of sound and light extravaganza displaying its rich multi- cultural diversities. Graphic display on a gigantic helium balloon formed the center stage with eight giant Indian puppets dancing in sync to the thundering sounds of drums and music.

Notwithstanding the impressive show, the preparation of the games has shown how far the country still has to go.
Delhi Games will no doubt be a lesson and it will take awhile for the country to regain its credibility, but India will no doubt will move ahead. It's no wonder why the country is called "Incredible India".

China World's Fifth Largest Tourist Destination

China is the world's fifth largest country for in bound tourism, and yet foreign tourists only account for a small fraction of the total volume.  Tourism industry in China is booming due to the emergence of a newly rich middle class and the easing of restrict of movements by Chinese authorities.  It is no wonder that the Chinese government has infused massive amount of money in the infrastructure to meet the demands of the ever increasing hordes of tourists each year.

Guiling
October National Holiday in China is perhaps one the busiest travel season next only to the Chinese New Year holidays.  It seems like the whole nation is on the move.

In Guilin for example the whole city got a facelift in 2002, a massive project that took 6 years to complete.  Lakes were dredged and new ones created surrounding the old city connected with scaled replications of word famous bridges.  San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge is one of them.
