Mural2012Mural in the Commons
Denny Sponsler and a team of muralists (including South High grad Greta McLain) are bringing color to the Commons.  A grant from an anonymous donor has made over a month of work possible.  Read more here.  There is still time before school starts to stop by and admire the beauty and hard work.

Leadership Class ~ Football Gears Up

LeadershipSouth High Athletics took a giant leap forward this past year by upgrading the weight room and hiring a trainer. Students used the facility every Tuesday & Thursday for off-season conditioning. Additionally, the Foundation sponsored a six week Leadership Class, open to all South students which met Monday thru Thursday and included two hours of coursework with an hour of conditioning.  The class is considered a success, with over 30 students participating, including incoming freshman. Tiger-Football

South Athletics has announced its intent to move to the Lake Conference for football largely due to its placement in 6A class. The conditioning & leadership class were started in anticipation of this move. Additionally, football has had a higher participation since June than in past years. Parents & players are supporting the move. Read the StarTribune articles [July 11; July 12].

Show your support.  Try to attend a game, if only one, the night game on October 14.  The boosters are promoting a post-game gathering at the Eagles after Homecoming (9/14) and a pre- and post-game gathering at the Eagles on October 14.  Or attend a Vikings game (a portion of the proceeds go to South) - Click here to purchase tickets.  There is a lot more work to be done, and the Football Boosters need all the help they can get. To find out what you can do (maybe purchase an ad in the program), contact southhighfootball@gmail.com or visit their FaceBook page:  Minneapolis South High Football.
