Happy New Year!

Executie Director photo

Hello everyone,

I want to first say thank you to everyone for a wonderful first year as Executive Director of Historic Newburgh, Inc.   For me, it has been a job that I totally look forward to every day.

Our 2012 schedule of events is filling up.  See below the dates of each event.  You will want to add them to your calendar.

I try so hard to let people know they are appreciated.  Sometimes I just miss someone.   Many of you know that Boy Scout Troop 303 donated the Town Christmas tree.  What you may not know is that Michaele Cox of Michaele Anthony Antiques, donated the lights......and there are a lot of lights.  This was her way of honoring her husband who passed away a little over a year ago.  Thank you Michaele!

Our shop continues to flourish with Historic Newburgh t-shirts, sweat shirts, wine glasses, books by local authors and prints of some of our historic homes.  Below is our

Historic Newburgh Ornament which will be available all year.

Our ornament is beveled glass with an etched design of Preservation Hall by Heather Kent and her company Tagged Designs.

The ornaments are on sale in the office for $10.00 each.

This is a great gift for employees, friends, family members or just yourself.

A special opportunity came our way this year.  Time Warner Cable is producing Historic Newburgh TV23 Magazine.  This is an interview show that celebrates all the different pieces and parts that make Newburgh a great place to live and visit.  I always end the show with "This is one of the reasons we love Newburgh and we think you will too."

Thank you Time Warner Cable

Run of Luck

  FYI

The Warrick County Solid Waste Management District would like to share with the residents of Warrick County the schedule for yard waste and Christmas tree collection program.

Annually, as winter approaches, the amount of yard waste being collected at the centers declines dramatically, making the need for this collection program during the winter months unnecessary.

For this reason, the Warrick County Solid Waste Management District would like to advise its clients and customers that as of the close of business on Saturday, Dec. 17, yard waste materials will not be accepted at the drop-off locations in Newburgh, Chandler, Elberfeld and Lynnville. Anyone wanting to dispose of yard waste materials after Saturday, Dec. 17 will need to bring that material to the Pelzer Road Collection and Disposal Facility.

The 2011/2012 holiday season quickly approaches. Effective Monday, Jan. 9, Christmas trees will be accepted at the drop-off locations in Newburgh, Chandler, Elberfeld, Lynnville and Pelzer Road. This will allow for the removal of Christmas trees utilizing the current yard waste collection containers. Please note that Christmas trees will be collected between Monday, Jan. 9 and Saturday, Jan. 21. After Jan. 21, that material will need to be taken to the Pelzer Road Collection and Disposal Facility, located at 1111 S. Pelzer Road in Boonville.

The Yard Waste Collection Program will resume at the drop-off locations in Newburgh, Chandler, Elberfeld and Lynnville on Monday, April 2.

For more information, call 897-6155.

Thank you to all who support HNI!

If you have read all the way to the end of this e-newsletter, you are a real trouper.  There is just so much going on in Newburgh these days, that this is just the best way to get the word out.

I ask that if you are not a member of Historic Newburgh, Inc., that you consider doing so.  Our organization needs members to help with our administrative costs.  Some of those costs that do not get rolled into event expenses include having our Historic Newburgh brochures distributed to Southern IN hotels, paying to be represented in regional tourism publications, the cost of using Constant Contact for our e-newsletter, gas & electric bills, rent, postage, and many other expenses that go into running an organization.
