Hello everyone, I used to fret over how long this newsletter was getting. The truth is that there is so much to share. You can scroll past that which you already know about and stop for details on the new things happening. October in Newburgh is a busy month for Historic Newburgh Inc., with the Ghost Walks, The Boot Sale and our Saturday morning Farmers Markets. That does not even scratch the surface of all of the other organizations and businesses that have events or special happenings. Carol Schaefer Executive Director |

THERE ARE STILL TICKETS LEFT! CALL OR COME BY THE OFFICE.

Once again Historic Downtown Newburgh will get a bit spooky with the annual Historic Newburgh Ghost Walks.
The Ghost Walks, sponsored by Historic Newburgh Inc., are entering their eighteenth year, and will run Friday, October 21nd, 6:30pm-9pm; Saturday, October 22rd, 5pm-9pm; and Sunday, October 23th, 5pm-8:30pm.
Participants on the Ghost Walks can choose between two different haunted tours.
On the Water Street tour, attendees will learn of mining and river lore, mayhem, mystery, and the Underground Railroad! The State Street tour focuses on Newburgh history, Civil War tales, thrills, and bedlam! Both tours offer their share of historical murder, mayhem, and mysteries.
The guided walking tours depart every 15 minutes from Preservation Hall (200 State Street) and each tour lasts about an hour. Comfortable shoes are recommended for those participating.
Advance tickets are on sale now. Advance tickets are $7/adults and $4/children ages 4-12. After October 20th tickets will be $9/adults and $5/children ages 4-12.
In addition to the walking tours we will once again offer the haunted Historic Newburgh trolley tour. This is designed for those who cannot walk the haunted route; Historic Newburgh, Inc. is offering two trolley tours on Sunday, October 24th, one at 1:00pm and one at 2:00pm. Tour sizes are limited to 17 people and it is first come, first serve. Tickets for the trolley tour are $5/person and must be purchased in advance. Haunted trolley tours will leave from the Newburgh Town Hall parking lot.
Tickets can be purchased by calling Historic Newburgh, Inc. at (812) 853-2815. There is limited space so get your tickets now! |

Two wonderful events on Oct 22, to support our Fire Department. Remember.....it is an all-volunteer Fire Department! They operate on donations.
Visit Crickets and the Newburgh Country Store. Every good bowl of Chili ought to have a pie.
After you have done all that, stop by the Newburgh Senior Center to pick up Saturday dinner or lunch for Sunday. It is their Fall "Butts and Ribs Fundraiser".
Of course, if you are feeling generous. Just write a check to the Newburgh Fire Department or to the Senior Center. They are two organizations that play an important role in our community.

The Newburgh Senior Center
The Fall "Butts and Ribs Fundraiser" for the Newburgh Senior Center will take place on Saturday, October 22, starting at 10 am till 2 pm at the Newburgh Senior Center, 529 Jefferson Street, Newburgh, IN. The famous "Newburgh BBQ Coalition" will be smoking the pork! This is the last open to the public "smoke" by the NBC in 2011, so be sure to stock up some butts and ribs for the long winter!
Butts will be $25 and full slabs of baby back ribs will sell for $25. Pulled Pork Sandwiches and chips will be available for lunch on Friday, October 21 and Saturday, October 22, from 11-2pm for just $5.00....and here is the crew!

Frank makes a special effort to purchase wines that you cannot get elsewhere. So check out his wine room, it is amazing! You will enjoy his new Wine Club.
Ask about their bread and pizza classes. My daughter had her 13th birthday party/cooking class at Vecchio's. It is the talk of the 7th grade class!

Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th you can experience a unique art show on the patio of Cafe Arazu. Many of the artists are part of Cafe Arazu's talented staff.

Art Show for Greenwich Workshop artist Morgan Weistling at Riverwind Gallery October 1- November 21, 2011
California artist, Morgan Weistling will be represented at Riverwind Gallery with a collection of limited edition giclee' art on canvas.
With his masterful use of oils, Morgan Weistling brings a scene to life with spectacular lighting, creating a sense of wonder and engaging the viewer's imagination and emotion. His dreamlike images touch the viewer's heart, using more than sentimentality to engage the viewer. His canvases are filled with brushwork that tells a story beyond the subject matter. In all of his vibrant work, from western art to feminine forms, Weistling crafts a narrative, driven by clarity, focus and purpose, drawing on images inspired by his beliefs and scenes from daily life.
Weistling began his artistic training on his father's lap at 19 months of age. He began his art school studies at the Brandes Art Institute at 15. At age 19, Weistling found himself employed at a top movie poster agency in Hollywood, where, for the next 14 years, he illustrated for every movie studio in Hollywood. His artwork can be seen for the video series, McGee and Mee, on numerous magazine, book, CD and Video covers as well as Sega pinball machines. Since deciding to focus on fine art as his career, the collector demand for his originals has been overwhelming.
Weistling is a highly sought after teacher who conducts private workshops with juried students and teach at the prestigious Scottsdale Artist School.
