Hello everyone,

Thank you to all who have given endless hours to help with the Wine Fest.  I have tried to personally thank each and every volunteer that has helped.  If I have missed you....I am sorry.

I have volunteered for many activities and for many years.  I know how important it is to feel like your time was well spent.

Please know that Historic Newburgh's goal is to make the Wine, Art and Jazz Festival even better next year.  That includes, how we make this a positive experience for our volunteers.  I have learned a lot in the past 5 months.  It is a great event.

The Farmers Market continues to be a huge success with almost 400 people wandering through the market place.  I am sorry if you came and some of the farmers or artists had left.  If they run out of merchandise, that will happen.  You will want to get there early.

I have been asked where the Farmers Marketis located.  It is in the Edgewater Grille Parking lot at the corner of State Street and Water Street.  Once again, thank you Jacquie.

Now it is time for Fireworks.  Community support is critical.  Please make an effort to thank the sponsors listed below and buy a button.  We need you.

Jewelry Classes Starting Soon

Beginners will start out with stretchy bracelets, rings or necklaces.  Things to learn will include linking with pin heads, how to do toggles and making dangles for earrings, bracelets or necklaces.

We will be doing Mothers/Grandmothers bracelets as well.  To begin with we will be using inexpensive findings and beads such as Swarovski crystals, lamp glass beads and sterling plated alphabet beads.  Some sterling silver will be available and we will work our way up to a higher quality sterling silver.

Basic Schedule for classes:

 Monday 9-11 a.m.

 Tuesday 9-11 a.m.

 Thursday 1-3 p.m.

 Thursday 6-8 p.m.

Cost is $10.00 per session. Because individual tastes vary, supplies will be extra.

Call today, 812-853-5533.  So I can give each person individual attention, class size is limited to 4 people per session.  Classes could start as soon as Thursday June 2nd!

I thought this sounded interesting.

Historic Southern Indiana is now taking registrations for our second annual educational symposia dealing with the War of 1812 and the impact on the Indiana Territory, the Midwest, and the nation. Our first symposium, "The Gathering Storm: The Rise of Tecumseh," addressed events prior to and during 1810 that led up to the conflict. This year's program will deal with the events of 1811 that led up to the War of 1812, most notably the Battle of Tippecanoe.

The symposium will take place on Saturday, June 25th at the Indiana Center for Applied Technology on the Vincennes University campus in Vincennes, Indiana. For more information and to register, visit http://www.usi.edu/hsi/warof1812.asp.

Historic Newburgh, Inc. is a non-profit, Main Street organization dedicated to historic preservation, economic revitalization and sustainability of Downtown Newburgh.
