Dear Friends of Feral Cats,
Spay Day 2010 was a huge success. On Sunday, February 21st, our dedicated volunteers spayed, neutered, and vaccinated 169 of Alachua County's homeless cats thanks to 10 veterinarians, 42 vet students and 76 other volunteers. Hats-off to 128 volunteers that helped out on Sunday.
Dr. Julie Levy (OC Medical Director), Dr. Laura Andersen, Dr. Cynda Crawford, Dr. Brian DiGangi, Dr. Markus Froembling, Dr. Sarah Kirk, Dr. Cate McManus, Dr. Kelly Rada, Dr. Fred Schirmer, and Dr. Dan Wolf were in attendance and we are grateful for their help.
53 of the 128 Spay Day volunteers signed-up through Disney's "Give a day, get a Disney Day" promotion and will receive a free tickets to a US Disney park (details at left).
A special thanks to Judy Angley for a delicious hot homemade lunch, Bob Blanchard and Alexandra Tilton for the Papa John's Pizza, and Sharyn Passeretti for desert.
Operation Catnip wouldn't be possible without dedicated volunteers!
169 cats were all spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies, feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia, and feline leukemia virus, and received Revolution to prevent fleas, ear mites, intestinal parasites, and heart worms.
8 Operation Catnip Graduates received free booster vaccines. Caregivers are encouraged to bring OC Grads in annually for free boosters.
Operation Catnip thanks all of you that contributed to Spay Day of 2010 and to ending euthanasia in our community.
Sincerely,
Shaye Olmstead Operation Catnip Manager
