Dear Friends of Feral Cats,
Cold weather was no obstacle for the first Spay Day of 2010. On Sunday, January 10th, our dedicated volunteers spayed, neutered, and vaccinated 115 of Alachua County's homeless cats thanks to caregivers kind enough to brave the cold.
Here are the highlights:
Volunteers
8 Veterinarians: Dr. Julie Levy-OC Medical Director, Dr. Laura Andersen, Dr. Cynda Crawford, Dr. Markus Froembling, Dr. Sarah Kirk, Dr. Fred Schirmer, Dr. Brian DiGangi, and Dr. Alex Gallagher.
37 Vet Students
49 General VolunteersTotal: 94 volunteers!
35 of the Spay Day volunteers received free tickets to a US Disney park- and you can too (details at left).
A special thanks to Sharyn Passeretti for a delicious lunch of hot chicken ranchero and macaroni and cheese, tasty bread pudding and delicate cookies.
Operation Catnip wouldn't be possible without dedicated volunteers!
Cats
115 cats total were spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies, feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, panleukopenia, and feline leukemia virus, and received Revolution to prevent fleas, ear mites, intestinal parasites, and heart worms.
Of the 115:
37 Kittens
78 Adults
66 Females
Operation Catnip thanks all of you that came out for the first spay day of 2010. Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Shaye Olmstead, BA Operation Catnip Manager

Volunteers of the Year 2009: Chip and Jenny Steele |
|
Operation Catnip recognizes Chip and Jenny for their dedication to improving the lives of animals through Trap Neuter Return in an effort to make our community's shared dream of No More Homeless Pets become a reality.
Jenny and Chip have been coming all the way from Orlando faithfully for nearly eight years to volunteer at Operation Catnip Spay Days. Chip and Jenny, captains of the Bladder and Spay Prep stations respectively, have ensured that thousands of cats have been prepped for surgery. Their rock solid reliability and positive attitudes have proven to be invaluable over the years.
On behalf of Operation Catnip graduates and volunteers,
thank you to our volunteers of Steele! |
