Greetings!
My 2009 new year's resolution is to make sure that every OC
volunteer feels appreciated!
Thank you to all of our dedicated volunteers for another
successful clinic. We sterilized 252 cats in 5 hours with the help of about 80
volunteers. I wish I could personally thank each and every volunteer for their
hard work, but that would take dozens of pages!
Here are just a few acknowledgments:
A special thank you to Veg4Life Potlucks for providing OC
volunteers with delicious cruelty-free food for the second month in a row! We
know you have a busy few months ahead of you, but we hope to see you again in
the near future!
And thank you to Judy Angley, our Food Committee Chair
volunteer, for coordinating all of the food donations each and every month as
well as providing many wonderful dishes for our hungry volunteers.
Without the skills of our community veterinarians, it would
take days to sterilize the large number of cats at our clinics. Thanks to Dr.
Terry Tomlin of Town and Country Veterinarians, Dr. Deborah Cottrell of Westend
Animal Hospital, Dr. Gail Perfect, Dr. Mouhamadou Diaw of UF, Dr. Alex
Gallagher of UF, UF Shelter Medicine intern Dr. Nirit Tzipory, Dr. Cynda
Crawford of UF Shelter Medicine and our own Dr. Julie Levy, Medical Director of
Operation Catnip.
Thanks to all 22 student surgeons who found time in the busy
vet student schedule to nip some kitties and develop their surgery skills.
And finally, thank you to every volunteer who gave their Sunday to the kitties, thanks to
the caregivers for helping the helpless cats, and although we are doing a
service for the cats, I am sure all the felines would agree that they deserved
to be thanked, too!
The next opportunity to help out during a mass clinic is
right around the corner. Mark your calendars for Sunday, February 8th.
You can find all future clinic dates at our website, www.operationcatnip.org.
There are always volunteer opportunities all during the
month - for more information, please contact the coordinator at operationcatnip@nmhp.net or
352.258.6757.
Thank you for being sweet to the kitties and happy 2009!
Kathy
