In Prayer
General Conference 2012
Job guarantees for elders. The Call to Action. Consolidation of general boards and agencies. If you are United Methodist, you may have heard these topics come up in conversation or read about them on umc.org. You'll be hearing more in the next 16 weeks, as delegates prepare to head to General Conference, April 24 - May 4, in Tampa, FL.

General Conference is the governing entity of the United Methodist Church, and the only body that can speak for the denomination.

um-insight.net and gc2012.umc.org are great resources for learning more about General Conference.

Music: Remembering Etta James
One of America's great voices, Etta James, passed away January 20. She was 73. James had a tragic life in many ways, that included an abusive childhood and numerous addictions.

Her singing career began in church at age five. Hit singles included "At Last" and "Something's got a hold of me," the latter which introduced Gospel elements into her sound.

This recording of "I'll Fly Away" is from a gospel compilation album released in 2004.
