Episcopal Transition
On October 27, Bishop Lyght announced that he will retire from the active Episcopacy on December 31, 2011, due to "ongoing health concerns."
The Council of Bishops selected William Boyd Grove to serve as interim bishop from January 1 - August 31, 2012. We will be covering this story thoroughly in the coming weeks. You can read about the relationship Lyght and Grove share, and read/hear more about the Bishop Lyght's life and ministry here.

Community of Grace Chartering set for Sunday

Music: 40 (as in Psalm 40)
Founded in 1976, U2 has long been known for The Edge's unique guitar style and Bono's soaring (some say over the top) vocals. Though they have never claimed to be a "Christian band", much of their music deals with Christian themes and social justice. This performance of '40', which quotes Psalm 40, is from 1984.

Apportionments are ministry
"I used to think that apportionments were a tax on local churches," said the Rev. Dan Lowther in this story last year. "But now I know that apportionments are ministry, too."
Check out resources for explaining apportionments for you church on the Giving is Worship page: wvumc/giw.
In the next few weeks, we'll also be highlighting how local churches have succeeded in ministry, and in paying their apportionments.
