May West Virginia United Methodist

The May issue of the West Virginia United Methodist goes to the printer today, but you can read it online now. This month, we reflect on Commission Possible 2 and how it points us toward Annual Conference in June. We also look forward to Summer events like SYC, the UM Men's Annual Gathering, and the UM Women's School of Christian Mission. Most people should have the print copy in their mailboxes by the weekend.

UMCOR "will be there" for storm-ravaged Southern States
Spring Storms

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has already sent a dozen emergency grants to Annual Conferences for recovery efforts in wake of last week's storms and tornados.  You can help by contributing to

2011 Spring Storms, UMCOR Emergency Advance #3021326.

Look for more information in this bulletin insert.

Annual Conference Registration

If you are going to Annual Conference this year, please visit wvumc.org/conference to register and to get more information.

Direct questions about Annual Conference registration to Judi Kenaston, Conference Secretary at 800-788-3746, ext. 23 or via email: wvumcconfsec@aol.com.

Pre-conference workbooks

An equipment issue with the printer of the pre-conference workbooks has delayed their delivery. We expect workbooks to be mailed on Wednesday May 4. This date should still allow everyone to have a print copy of the workbook before Pre-conference workshops begin on May 16.

We apologize for the inconvenience and invite you to look over the pre-conference workbook anytime at wvumc.org/conference.

From CP2 to Annual Conference:  A Bridge to Pentecost
CP 2 LogoThe Annual Conference session this year concludes on Saturday afternoon - which means pastors and church members will be able to be home to celebrate Pentecost Sunday.

We've added some sermon, liturgy and youth resources to use in your church to connect Commission Possible with Pentecost Sunday. We'll also be 'blogging toward Pentecost' over at the Quad @wvumc.

The CP2 resource page includes speaker presentations, a flickr slideshow, and an audio archive of each speaker.  We've also archived the audio (9 hours total) of each speaker at youtube.com/wvumc.

Coming up soon...

UMW Mission Encounter

Every Spring the United Methodist Women spend a weekend volunteering at a Conference Mission Project. It gives the women a chance to serve, but also see first-hand the ministry that goes on there. On May 13-15 they will be at Ebenezer Community Outreach Center in Huntington. Lean more and register here.

United Methodist Foundation Sunday

Sunday May 15 is an opportunity for your church to celebrate the ministry of the Foundation. Explore their website - www.umfwv.org - which includes a page dedicated to Foundation Sunday. There, you'll find more information and downloadable resources, including bulletin inserts and stories. Email or call the Foundation at 800-788-3746 ext. 45 for more information or to order resources.
