The Weekly Shout-out: Lent Stories
We'll use this space to share what churches around the Conference are doing to observe Lent. Some ideas:
- Snap a picture at your church's Lenten Lunch today (or any day there's a lunch) - and share your thoughts on the message you hear.
- Let us know what your small group (Sunday School Class, Bible Study group, etc.) is studying during Lent.
- Write a reflection about what the Lent season means to you.
- In a church choir? What does the music you sing during this season mean to you? What are your favorite pieces to sing between now and Easter?

March WVUM in the mail...and online
In this month's issue, we highlight the legacy of the United Methodist Women. Heather Murray Elkins reminds us that women in the Methodist tradition have always pushed the church forward.
Dr. Bill Wilson says his experience with the School of Christian Mission (SOCM), sponsored by the UMW, has helped him focus on unfamiliar traditions and places. There's also a list of UMW events between now and August in the paper.
Other stories include an in-depth look at the Spring 2011 Ministry Commission Report, which recommends some big changes in the way clergy are recruited, prepared, and evaluated for ministry in the UMC.

- How to welcome guests to your church?
- What you can do turnaround the decline in church attendance in the U.S.?
Join Rev. Tyrone Gordon, Rev. Cathy Townley, and Dr. Paul Borden to explore answers to these questions April 8-9 at the Clay Center in Charleston. Registration is $30/per person or $100 for a group of four. See you there!
