Online Continuing Education Consortium
The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) is partnering with the 13 United Methodist theological schools to provide online continuing education to clergy and lay Christians.  Visit this page on GBHEM's website for more information.

Interested clergy should contact J.F. Lacaria about utilizing $350 in Ministerial Education Funds (MEF) for continuing education to cover the costs of courses they register for.  Call him at 1-800-788-3746, ext. 27 or email jayeph@aol.com
Think ahead for CP2
Oh the weather outside is frightful - and everyone's thinking of Advent and Christmas.  April seems a long time away.  So, we've extended our early-bird registration prices for Commission Possible: Ambassadors for Christ (CP2), the evangelism event of 2011 for the WV Conference.

Group registration ends on January 15, 2011 - and represents a significant cost savings opportunity for your church.  Register a group of 5 by the deadline date for $100 - a $25 savings over the same number of individual registrations.

Individuals may also register early for $25.  After January 15, 2011, the rate goes up to $30/per youth or adult.

Don't forget to register your middle school and high school students for a great weekend too!  Grammy-nominated DecembeRadio is the headline music group for teens.  CP2 for youth also features Rev. Jim Walker of Hot Metal Bridge Church in Pittsburgh.

Local churches help in Haiti

The work of Elizabeth Chapel and Trinity United Methodist Churches in Greenbrier County caught the attention of reporter Tina Alvey.  In the December 12 edition of the Beckley Register-Herald, she reports on the long history the two churches have with people in Haiti.  That relationship positioned them to offer help after January's 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit the island nation.  Projects include the construction of 25 homes for people displaced by the disaster. Read her story here.

Let us know when your church makes the paper!  Post the link on our Facebook page (here's how to do it), or send an email to wvumc@wvumc.org.
