Ministry Helps Youth Center Their Life Around Christ
The Centershot Ministry at Beckley Temple UMC incorporates Bible study with bow-shooting - the idea is to help young people keep Christ the center of their lives.

Watch for more on this story in the next edition of the West Virginia United Methodist, published in early November.

You can learn more about Centershot here.
Ministry Exploration Sunday
Sunday, October 24, is Ministry Exploration Sunday and encourages people to consider full time ministry. The General Board of Higher Education and Ministry has an extensive website on exploring a call to ministry at ExploreCalling.org

Click here for a complete list of Special Sundays and their remittance numbers for church treasurers.

Remembering Our Clergy
The Lyghthouse is the official blog of resident Bishop, Ernest S. Lyght.  Recently, he wrote about the pastors who made a difference in his life - and encouraged all of us to let our pastors know how much we value them and their ministry.

October is Clergy Appreciation Month.  Perhaps one way your church can honor your pastor is by making a contribution to the Central Conference Pension Initiative (CCPI).

Clergy and their spouses in the Central Conferences of the United Methodist Church spend years in ministry, then retire without the security of a pension.  Your gifts to date have helped ensure they will have food, medication, or a place to live.

The West Virginia Conference has raised more than $192,000 toward a goal of $250,000.  Additionally, more than $21 million has been raised toward the general UMC goal of $25 million.

Click here for resources on how you can help meet our goal.

Day of Remembrance Sunday

Gifts made on the annual Day of Remembrance Special Sunday (Nov. 7, 2010), will go to CCPI too.

You can download a video at wvumc.org/communications of Bishop Lyght making a personal appeal to congregations in the West Virginia Conference to help reach our Conference CCPI goal.

Church Treasurers, the remittance number for this Special Sunday is 794.
