Apple & Pumpkin Harvest Festivals
Join Burlington United Methodist Family Services at their Beckley campus for the 5th Annual Pumpkin Harvest Festival, or on their Burlington campus for the 37th Annual Apple Harvest Festival.

Burlington has a long history of helping at risk kids through the Beckley Center"Words from a Gentle Man", is a compilation of sermons by the late Rev. Dr. Raymond Marquess Rowe, Jr., who believed helping at-risk kids was an important ministry.  Pre-orders for the book, which costs $20 will be available this weekend at a both events; monies received will be donated to the Beckley Center.  Contact Mary Belle Rowe for more information:  mb_rowe09@comcast.net.

CORRECTION: Day of Remembrance Sunday
Last week's e-news included the wrong date for Day of Remembrance Sunday. The Special Sunday is November 7, 2010. Funds raised go to the Central Conference Pension Initiative. We regret the error.
Upcoming Special Sundays
World Communion Sunday is October 3 and supports scholarships for ethnic students.Undie Sunday and Children's Sabbath are October 10, and provide support and prayer for children in poverty. For Undie Sunday, bring new underwear to your local church. The donations are given to Conference mission projects to distribute to children in need. West Virginia Council of Churches Annual Assembly
WVCCCross Lanes, W. Va. native Kathy Mattea performedSeptember 17 at the West Virginia Council of Churches (WVCC) 130th Anniversary Celebration and Unity Dinner. The West Virginia Conference and the United Methodist Foundation of WV were star contributors for the event, and long time ecumenical partners with the WVCC. The WVCC Annual Assembly is October 17-18, and features keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Dean Thompson, formerly of Charleston.
