Flood Buckets Needed
Recent flooding in West Virginia has depleted the Conference Disaster Response Team's supply of flood buckets. Your church can help!
"We're asking churches to start putting bu ckets together," said Conference Disaster Response Coordinator, Rev. Dan Lowther. Churches should use UMCOR's instructions for filling the buckets with supplies. Look for details on how churches can help with delivery of flood buckets in the next West Virginia United Methodist and in future editions of the e-news.

From Tippers to Tithers
September workshop focuses on local church giving
Learn effective giving principles, re-tool your stewardship campaign, help people grow in giving. Jim Griffith will lead a workshop at Christ Church UMC in Charleston September 25 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Churches that register by Sept. 7, 2010 receive an early-bird registration rate of $125. After Sept. 7, the registration fee goes up to $175.

Montcoal Mine Disaster Fund raises more than $750,000.00
Donations to the
Montcoal Mining Disaster Fund have exceeded $750,000. The Rev. Dennis Sparks, announced July 21 that the fund will close on July 31, 2010. Sparks is the Executive Director of the WV Council of Churches and administrator of the fund.
Checks in equal amounts will be distributed to
the 31 families
in early August, including the two miners who were hospitalized after the
explosion.
The Council of Churches would like to thank individuals, businesses,
firms, organizations, and churches that have made contributions to the
fund.
The United Methodist Foundation of West Virginia provided administrative support services and payment processing for the fund.
