Pray for miners, families
25 miners are dead in the wake of yesterday's mine explosion near Montcoal, W.Va. The explosion is the biggest mining disaster since 1984. Four miners are still unaccounted for, and officials say it could be two days before rescuers reach their location.
Please keep the people affected by this disaster in your thoughts and prayers. We've set up a special page on the conference website: wvumc.org/miners. You may also leave a prayer on our Facebook page.

Global AIDS Goal
At Annual
Conference 2008 we began taking donations toward meeting our goal of
raising
$100,000 for the United Methodist Church Global AIDS Fund. We are almost
80% of
the way there! If every church in the conference contributed $25, we
will reach
the goal! The AIDS
Task Force challenges churches of the WV Conference to meet our goal
during
Eastertide - the 50 days between Easter and Pentecost Sunday. 25% of
funds
raised stay in WV Conference for AIDS education. Reaching our $100,000
goal
insures local agencies will receive fully funded grants. Our
contributions will
also help the Global AIDS Fund help HIV/AIDS orphans in Africa, Asia,
Central
and South America, and the Caribbean. Help provide hope to the helpless,
please
mark your donations: UMCOR Advance #982345.
Thanks for your faithfulness!
