Donate money to United Methodist Committee on Relief. 100% of your gifts go to help the people of Haiti. Remember to direct your offerings
to the Conference Treasurers Office using a remittance form (all checks payable
to 'Conference Treasurer'). Please direct them toward 'Haiti Earthquake
2010'.
Be ready to receive gifts from people who are not a part of your congregation. UMCOR recently received an A+ rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy, which rates non-profits efficiency in getting funds to people in need. A least one newspaper (the Charleston Daily Mail) is running a story this week about our denominational response to the Haiti earthquake. This kind of publicity may bring folks to your local church.
Worship resources (bulletin inserts, litanies, etc.) are available through United Methodist Communications. Download them here.
Work teams will not be able to go to Haiti until late spring or early summer, and only those with prior experience in the country will be able to go at first. "There will be many opportunities for work teams to Haiti in the future," said Rev. Tom Clark, Conference VIM coordinator. "This will likely be a recovery process that takes at least ten years."
Rev. Clark will maintain a database of the names of people interested in being on a work team to Haiti after first responders complete the initial phase of disaster recovery. Please call him at 304-206-8257 if you would like to be added to it.
The West Virginia United Methodist Winter 2010 edition
The next edition of the conference newspaper will be in mailboxes in early February. At least 4 local churches and their ministries will be featured, along with a couple of our Conference Mission Projects.
The conference website has a list churches that have not submitted their statistical reports yet, as well as the necessary forms and information to submit. We will be updating this daily through the end of the month.
Grow Your Church: Early Registration Deadline Feb. 1

Veteran church planter and congregational coach Jim Griffith will help you answer this question during a workshop March 13-14 at Chief Logan Lodge in Logan, WV.
Space is still available for about 15 teams, and must include the pastor of the church and 3 laypeople. Teams registering by Feb.1 pay a discounted fee of $300 for the workshop. The fee per team goes up to $400 after Feb. 1.
