December Newspaper
The newly designed West Virginia United Methodist is available online now.
Highlights of the paper include:
Several stories about local church ministries, including Cheylan UMC's Love Train and Lerona UMC's efforts for Undie Sunday.
Wellspring of Greenbrier, Inc. is this month's cover story. Wellspring is a non-profit community service organization directed by Fred and Scarlett Kellerman. Fred is a former lay leader of the Annual Conference.
Giving is Worship is a new campaign effort of the Annual Conference, designed to heighten awareness of Apportionment giving. The back page of the paper is a full color 'poster' featuring Spring Heights, which receives support from apportionment dollars.
Hang it up in your church, and look for more posters in the next year.

Youth from around the conference will meet at Cedar Lakes this weekend for Fall Workshop.
They will try to raise $750 for the Central Conference Pension Initiative (CCPI), a UMC effort that will provide financial support to retired clergy in Africa, Asia, and parts of Europe. "We'll also pray for the retired clergy and families of the Central Conferences," said CCYM president Connor Kenaston. "We hope parents and other supporters of youth will help us reach this goal."

CPP Redirection
The General Board of Pensions recently passed a resolution authorizing a 'premium holiday' for the Comprehensive Protection Plan (CPP), the death and disability benefit for clergy. Funds normally collected for CPP will be re-directed to the Ministerial Pension Plan (MPP) Annuities, the retirement program from 1982-2006.
Redirecting funds from the CPP to MPP Annuities will not impact current or future disability and death benefits, and allows the Conference to meet its obligations to retired MPP plan participants without raising the Conference budget or the amount currently billed to churches.
Download and read the complete letter regarding CPP Redirection.
