TRINITY SCHOOL STUDENTS HONOR THE BLESSED MOTHER AND THE SISTERS OF NOTRE DAME DE NAMUR BY PARTICIPATING IN THE LIVING ROSARY

          

 

Ellicott City, MD - The students of Trinity School, an independent, Catholic pre-school, pre-kindergarten, primary and middle school for boys and girls, grades Pre-School through 8, sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, will be participating in the Living Rosary on Monday, October 24th at 8:30am.

Students from all grades will be gathered around the circle (shown above) and will each recite the prayer represented by the bead they are holding.  

This is Trinity's first Living Rosary.  Not only will the students be honoring Mary as our blessed mother, they will also be honoring Mary as the patroness of Trinity School and of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, who founded Trinity in 1941 and are now its sponsor.

Recently, a tribute to the Sisters was installed around the statue of Mary.  It consists of 5 tablets. Each tablet holds 3 plaques. The first plaque displays one of the five tenets or beliefs held in common by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. The second plaque displays a significant event in the history of Trinity School, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year.  The third plaque displays a historical photograph that corresponds to the event described.  Encircling the tribute are metal bands  

inscribed with the name of each Sister who taught at either Trinity School or Trinity Preparatory School, the high school for girls which was located on the Ilchester property from 1934 until 1972.  

The idea for the tribute was presented to the Trinity Board of Trustees by Trinity alumni parent and former trustee, Mr. Kevin Shearer. Other committee members who participated in  the implementation of the tribute are Mr. William Nitzel - architect, Mr. William Law - construction, Mr. Richard Frediani - former chairman of the Trinity Facilities and Grounds committee, Mrs. Ingrid Sampson and Mrs. Janet Ecker - donor co-ordinators. 

October is traditionally held as the month of the Holy Rosary by the Roman Catholic Church.
