TRINITY SCHOOL HOLDS ANNUAL TURTLE DERBY

October 6, 2010, Ellicott City, Maryland....Trinity School, an Independent Catholic Pre-K through 8th grade school, will host its Annual Turtle Derby.
This year, the Turtle Derby will take place on October 6th to coincide with the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the saint who most known for his love ofnature. This tradition is celebrated with the wearing turtle hats, green "press passes" or turtle jewelry (even the teachers! ) when the students join each other on the school playground.
In addition to the Turtle Derby race, Trinity will carry on the tradition of pairing primary school students and middle school students through their Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. The students will watch the race with their mentors.
When all are seated quietly on the ground, the students are joined by Sr. Catherine Phelps, who has been at Trinity since 1970 and is celebrating her 40th year at its helm.
After the Derby, ribbons are awarded to the second and third place winners. The first place winner is awarded the highly coveted "Trinity Turtle Trophy".
We invite you will join us a morning of excitement as yet another Trinity tradition is carried on. |
