World's Largest Garage Sale
K9COLA will be participating in the World's Largest Garage Sale on May 12 at Hawkeye Downs. We are in desperate need of items to sell because the weather spoiled our plan to collect donations at the park. Currently we do not have enough to fill a booth at the sale.
For this fundraiser we are looking for used saleable items; no electronics or clothes please. Call Kelly Ennis at 319-241-4652 or e-mail Kelly@k9cola.org for information on dropping off the items.
We are also looking for volunteers to help set up our space on Friday afternoon and help work the booth on Saturday (minimum 1 person so Kelly and Ken can have lunch). If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Kelly or Jill@k9cola.org.
Remember, we cannot do this without your help! Thanks for volunteering and for donating items for us to sell. |

K9COLA at Farmers Market
K9COLA will once again be at all the CR Downtown Farmers Markets this summer. We are in space #47, which is the same spot we have been in for the last few years. We are close to 2nd St. and 4th Ave. S.E. The markets take place the first and third Saturdays of the month, June through September,
June 2 & 16,July 7 & 2,August 4 & 18, and September 1 & 15.
If you visit the markets be sure to stop by and say hello. We will have homemade dog treats and other items for sale and always have water for your dogs if you bring them along. We are always in need of people to make items and donate them for us to sell. Any homemade or handmade items are okay. All money raised goes towards improvements at the off-leash dog parks. It is also a great place to promote the off-leash parks and K9COLAs events (like K9SPLASH!) to people who didn't know about them. Hope to see you there. If you would like to make something and donate it for sale you can email Steve at steve@k9cola.org. |

Name the New Park
We are taking suggestions for a name for the new off-leash dog park. We will take suggestions through May 15th. The K9COLA board will select 3-5 names to forward to the Parks Department. They will then decide on one and present it for City Council approval (possibly at the June meeting).
There are some rules we have to follow. The park can't be named after a person unless that person was of local importance and has been deceased at least 10 years. We also can't use a name that is similar to another park.
Here are some names that people suggested in 2010.
- Tails On Trails Off-Leash Park
- Victory Off-Leash Park
- Dog Days Off-Leash Park
- Freedom Off-Leash Park
- Spirit Off-Leash Park
- Koda Off-Leash park
- Waggin' Trails Off-Leash park
- Rover's Field Off-Leash Park
- Prairie Paws Off-Leash Park
Email your ideas to steve@k9cola.org.
