Fredric H. Newton, M.D. and his staff will be hosting an Open House for those that would like the opportunity to meet physicians at Newton Medical Group this month.  Along with Dr. Newton, some of his colleagues such as Dr. Michael Charles, Dr. James Robbins, and Dr. Thomas Wallace, will be there to help host the Open House.  Many of the new clinicians will be in attendance. The event will take place on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 from 5-7pm in the Oakland office located on 180 Grand Avenue, Suite 100. Newton Medical Group recently announced new physicians were added to their staff between last fall and today.  The new physicians at Newton Medical Group include the following:

Dentistry- John Tacheff, D.D.S., received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in San Francisco and has over 25 years work experience as a licensed Dentist in the State of California.  Dr. Tacheff focuses on primary injury and secondary derivative dental issues. He is seeing patients in Oakland and Sacramento.

Neurosurgery- Dikran Bairamian, M.D., received his Doctorate in Medicine in Syria and has over 20 publications regarding his research on Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and MRI scanning of CNS disorders. Dr. Bairamian is seeing patients in Oakland and Sacramento.

Physiatry/PM&R- Hussam El-Gohary, M.D., received his Doctorate of Medicine in Egypt. He has a private practice in Oakland, is the Medical Director for the Rehab Services at Alta Bates in Berkeley, and is the Department Chair for the Alameda County Medical Center. He is seeing patients in Oakland and Santa Rosa.

Neuropsychology- Larry J. Wornian, Ph.D., received his Ph.D. of Education-Counseling Psychology at University of California, Berkeley and is a certified QME.  He has a private practice where 98% of his work comes from the civil and criminal justice system arena. He used to be a QME in the late 1990s and then renewed in 2008. He also has additional post-doctoral respecialization training for Neuropsychological Assessment and Advanced Neuropsychological Assessment.  Dr. Wornian is currently seeing patients in Oakland, Sacramento, & Santa Rosa.  

Psychiatry- Glenhall Taylor, M.D., received his Doctorate of Medicine at University of California, Davis.  He has additional training in Addiction Medicine and treatment of chronic pain disorders which are very pertinent to the evaluation of the growing numbers of injured workers with these problems. He is seeing patients in Oakland, Sacramento, and Santa Rosa.

Psychology- John Parke, Psy.D., received his master's degree in counseling psychology and a doctorate in clinical psychology.  He also holds a Diplomate in pain management from the American Academy of Pain Management and is a licensed psychologist in the State of California.   Along with handling Workers' Comp evaluations, Dr. Parke currently has a private practice in Belmont. Dr. Parke brings more than 20 years of experience to his private practice in psychology.  He has done several education presentations such as PTSD in the Chronic Pain Patient and workshops throughout the SF/Bay Area. He is seeing patients out of Oakland and Santa Rosa.

Newton Medical Group announces that all new physicians receive guidance and tutelage under the AME MENTORING PROGRAM headed by Dr. Fredric Newton, Dr. Richard Baker, Dr. Michael Charles and Dr. Claude Munday.  The AME Mentoring Program since 2005 includes didactic classroom training, case-by-case mentoring, case conferencing with experienced physicians, and ongoing case review or education by attorney consultants.

John Parke, Psy.D is one of our Psychology specialists at Newton Medical Group. He is a Qualified Medical Examiner and holds quite the impressive curriculum vitae (CV).

Dr. Parke received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA.  He also holds a Diplomate in pain management from the American Academy of Pain Management and is a licensed psychologist in the State of California.

Along with handling Workers' Comp evaluations, Dr. Parke currently has his private practice in Belmont, CA. Dr. Parke brings more than 19 years of experience to his private practive in psychology. His work experience extends from a Pain Management Clinic-Stanford Hospital to Behavioral Medicine Services in San Jose and so much more. He has done several workshops and educational presentations such as "PTSD in the Chronic Pain Patient" throughout the SF/Bay Area.

His top five areas of specialty include PTSD, Chronic Pain Management, Panic Disorder, Depression and Sexual Harassment Cases.  Clinical psychologists often work with other professionals such as psychiatrists to bring a collaborative approach to complex patient problems.  Clinical psychologists are often part of a multidisciplinary to pain management. They can also treat emotional issues related to injury and traumatic exposure. 

FUN FACT: Dr.  Parke is a Certified Medical Hypnotherapist and is currently a Hypnosis Instructor at the Palo Alto School of Hypnotherapy.  I don't think anyone falls asleep "voluntarily" in this class!
