Spring is only a few short weeks away and we are busy working away on bringing you new works and new events. I am very excited to share our achievements and plans with you, as we move into our 2011-2012 Season.

We are proud to announce that our 2010 De Colores Festival was a huge success - THANK YOU! The plays were read to a full theatre on both nights. It was amazing to see and feel the support. It was a very tough decision selecting our 2011 De Colores Playwrights from amongst all of the fabulous applicants, but after much deliberation, a decision has finally been made! (See below!)

We're preparing for our Pena: Alameda's Annual Fundraiser and are ecstatic about the incredible line up of artists this year! Save the date, May 10, 2011, it's going to be a really fun party.   And, speaking of dates to save, on Friday June 3
we will be hosting the much awaited Toronto launch of Carmen Aguirre's Something Fierce: Memoirs of a Revolutionary Daughter, in cooperation with the Toronto Women's Bookstore and Douglas & McIntyre publishers. Don't miss it!

We have hired our first General Manager! Please read the full article on Corrie Sakaluk and the incredible talents she will bring to Alameda!

Be sure to scroll through this newsletter right to the bottom for details on a special deal on tickets for Aluna Theatre's production of NoHayQuienSepa (no one knows). Collaborating with and supporting our fellow artists and creators is one of Alameda's central principles, and we encourage all of our supporters to go see Aluna's important new play.

Enjoy these first warm rays of sunshine and we'll see you very soon!

Cariņos,
Marilo
