Greetings!
Marilo Nuņez, Artistic Director | We have had such an amazing year! It seems like only yesterday we were working out of a corner in my bedroom, producing the largest show of Alameda's career! And now, we've moved into our own office space, we entertained you with Mexican treats and drink at our Peņa and The Refugee Hotel received a Dora nomination for Outstanding New Play! Whew! What a year! What do we have in store for you this season? We are focusing on development, nurturing more playwrights and building the foundation. We are starting with our 3rd annual De Colores Festival of New Works (click here to buy your tickets!). We will be launching our youth outreach program, Nueva Voz: Latino Youth Initiative in the new year and we will be presenting a workshop production of Amaranta Leyva's new play, The Intruder. So much excitement and creativity! Ofcourse, we will keep you abreast of all of the activity here at Alameda!
In this issue: We have an amazing line-up of talented playwrights for our De Colores Festival this year! The hilarious Martha Chaves has written her first play and she's itching to have you hear it (Staying Alive)! I am one of the playwrights this year, delving into the world of Lorca, blood, family and weddings (Sangre Redux). Juan Carlos Velis, who you all saw as Fat Jorge in The Refugee Hotel, is back with a political tale of his own (Further Beyond), and ofcourse, as I mentioned before, the gorgeous play about divorce by Amaranta Leyva and her puppets (The Intruder). Watch the video interviews here!
See you at the show!
Marilo
PS: We've launched our new website! A new look for a new beginning! Have a look around, tell us what you think!
