Amplify Your Experience By James Hungerford, CEO, Xibitz Developing an experiential environment should be an enriching and gratifying process. But shaping innovative ideas and creative plans into workable design solutions can be difficult. How can you make sure your project achieves your goals in a rewarding way? In our work with a wide range of corporate, museum and flagship retail clients, we've found that it all comes down to collaboration. Our varied experiences have afforded us the vantage point to see a different end result when creative design ideas are enhanced and refined in a team setting, versus a situation with limited communication and interaction.
Even the best ideas, visions, and goals for an experience can suffer if creative forces work in silos. While the level of collaboration we advocate at Xibitz requires a significant commitment, such openness to sharing innovative ideas and strategies between teams with different types of expertise provides a significant boost to the end results - promoting the most effective use of project funds for the experience and for the client.
Openness to a deeper collaborative process with the entire creative team taps into a much broader knowledge base and a wider range of problem-solving skills, resulting in the discovery of new opportunities, improved design solutions, a boost in vision, and more connectivity throughout the project implementation. Our collaborative teams have clearly seen how working cooperatively during the creative process provides greater returns for all concerned, while amplifying your visitor experience. I hope you'll enjoy reading this Xplorer's examples of how our approach has helped other clients achieve their goals in enriching and gratifying ways.

Skydeck Experience Entertains and Educates from Entry to Exit
No one likes to wait in line. So when Hornall Anderson was looking for a partner to execute its design and creative vision for a new queuing experience that would celebrate a world-renowned tourist destination - Skydeck Chicago at Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) - the Seattle-based design firm called on Xibitz.
Completed in July, the Skydeck queue is comprised of three major experiences that entertain and educate visitors from entry to exit. To facilitate that outcome, Xibitz provided Hornall with a turnkey partnership experience including budget management, collaborative design solutions, execution strategies and scheduling, sampling, engineering, project management, vendor management, fabrication and installation.
The result: a visual and immersive environment that blends environmental graphics, digital experiences and sculptural elements - all fostering interaction and enjoyment.

Caribbean Exhibit Seminar
Showcases Xibitz Expertise
In late July, Xibitz enjoyed the privilege of taking part in the week-long opening celebration for the National Archeological Museum Aruba -- which included workshops and seminars presented by prominent scholars, artists and archeologists highlighting Caribbean and South American art, culture, science and innovation. With our partners Lord Cultural Resources, Xibitz presented a seminar on promoting cultural connections and audience engagement through exciting exhibits. Against the backdrop of the newly opened Museum - designed and produced by our team - we shared information on global trends in museum exhibition. Then we provided a tour of the Museum, demonstrating actual examples of how cultural exhibitions can be exciting, engaging and interactive as well as budget-conscious.
More than 40 professionals from museums and cultural organizations in the Caribbean attended, with many requesting follow-up interviews to discuss specific questions and interests. We congratulate the Museum staff and people of Aruba for realizing this long-held dream and extend our gratitude for giving us this opportunity to create something magical, and to share our knowledge and expertise with the larger Caribbean cultural community.

Experience Amway
Celebrates Achievement and Immerses Representatives in the Brand
Everything was just a little bigger and a little more sensational at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for Amway's 50th Anniversary event earlier this year. As part of this celebration of 50 years of continuous operations, and global sales reaching 8.2 billion, Amway needed to craft an experience worthy of the company's new energy and ideas.
Its solution: Xibitz was selected to work with retail designer Design Forum to transform the MGM Grand's Premier Ballroom into "Experience Amway." The outcome was an opportunity for the company's 4,000-plus top achievers from around the world to fully immerse themselves in Amway, its brand and its products. |
The Story of Us
Displays and Interprets the Best of Museum's Collection
When the Cranbrook Institute of Science - Michigan's Museum of Natural History - wanted an exhibit to display and interpret the very best of its nationally recognized cultural collection, it turned to Hutchinson Studios, LLC and Xibitz for help.
Together, we produced The Story of Us, which features approximately 240 artifacts from varied time periods and cultures in an intimate setting that's both aesthetically beautiful and interpretively rich.
Weaving media use carefully into the fabric of the experience, the exhibit is able to enhance the message conveyed by the artifacts themselves. And, through creative color choices, skilled integration of technology, and an array of sound-absorbing surfaces, it offers a calm, classic, understated feel.
The Story of Us is scheduled to open this fall. |
