The Business Side of Co-Parenting an excerpt from Kids First Next Step Program: Putting Conflict Aside
Kids First frequently refers to the need for parents in the process of a divorce or separation, especially in high conflict situations, to try to treat their co-parenting communications as business discussions. In other words, on the phone or in person, stick to the facts and avoid getting too personal. Though to some this may seem like a "cold" approach to dealing wth the other parent of your child, for many it provides just the right level of detachment to allow for true resolution of sticky issues while avoiding the emotional entanglements that frequently end in expletives and slammed phones/doors.
