Greetings! - Well, I have now been in my new recruiting role with Christian Associates for over a month and I'm LOVING it!  And to be honest...  I'm pretty dang good at it!  I have loved being the Executive Pastor for [iccp] and I still get to be very involved.  Being a Pastor has been great - very difficult, but very good.  But, I gotta tell ya, this feels like coming home.  I really know how to do this!  But even better, now I get to come at recruiting from a new angle.  I get to take what God has taught me and who God has made me, over the past 5 years at [iccp], and use it to shepherd and pastor people toward His calling on their lives.  I love it!

Over the past couple months, we've had 37 people on our new "Introduction to CA" Skype calls, received 21 applications, had 12 people go through our "Engage" Assessment weekend, and have 9 people now fundraising to follow Jesus' call to "... go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." - Matt 28:19, 20

This role is still a fundraised role, so Thank You for supporting us as we continue being amazed at how God uses us and what he is doing through us.   We'll keep at it.  Here's a Story Time from a little different angle...

Story Time

I had an interesting conversation recently.

"I'm excited, but kinda nervous about starting my new role."

"You'll be alright.  I mean, sure, you've have had an easy job for the last 5 years, but now you gotta get back to work!"

I know that many of you don't have a full picture of what pastors do.  I was one of you! I mean, except for Sunday, what could you possibly do all week, right??  I also know that for many of you, that thought has never crossed your mind, and I am glad that you are out there to balance out the people like me!

I will tell you that I now know what people who work for The Church do.  And everyone who has been here to Aix-en-Provence and has spent some time with me, knows how difficult, frustrating, time consuming and wonderfully fulfilling, this job is.

I have never worked so hard in my life and most of you know I am a hard worker.  I am so thankful for all of you and I want you to know that your investment is being put to good use:  God's grace is great; Jesus' love is being felt and passed on to others of many nations and cultures; His Word is spreading.  But I never imagined the difficulty of working in a church, the pressures, the long hours, the struggles and strains of this calling...  Let alone doing it in the darkness of France, in French, with a family, and with the joys and pressures of fundraising.

I get many, many notes of encouragement from you all and I appreciate that so much. Many of you have said you feel privileged to get to be a financial part of what God has us doing, because you can't be here to do it yourself. Thank you.  I get that.  I am very grateful for what He is doing in the life of CA's many churches, and full of gratitude for what He is doing in my life and for the privilege of walking closer to Him than ever before.

I also want you all to know that I get "not getting it". Hey, there are lots of things to love about this job.  Please know that I invite you to ask any questions and we'd love you to come spend some time with us. Then, I promise you, you'll get it!

Until then, please keep financially partnering with us  and prayerfully supporting us. Pray for me today to stay close to Christ and God's Word - and let Him lead me in all I do.

"Fund-raising is as spiritual as giving a sermon, entering a time of prayer, visiting the sick, or feeding the hungry! We are declaring we have a vision that is amazing and exciting.  We are inviting you to invest yourself through the resources that God has given you - your energy, your prayers, and your money - in this work to which God has called us."  - Henri Nouwen, The Spirituality of Fund-Raising
