Bonsoir from Aix, ! I hope the beginning of 2009 has been enjoyable for you.
There is major change going on here... our church is in the midst of transition as Darrin Jones (our pastor) and his family are leaving Aix to work with an international school in Morocco. The Jones family will leave in June. Each of the four of our family are very close with each of the Joneses - this is going to be very hard for both the Joneses and us. The immediate step takes place tomorrow morning as our staff, elders, and council will meet together to; 1) sharpen the vision and mission of [iccp] for the future, and 2) discuss the role of pastoral leadership going forward.
Please be in prayer for this meeting. Pray for wisdom, direction, and faith to listen, trust, and follow God in the steps ahead. Thanks very much!
And major change for Olivia... Along with Joneses leaving, we have also learned in the last two weeks that Olivia's three best friends are all leaving Aix this summer. As you can imagine, this is VERY difficult news. It is especially hard for children to make friends in this cross cultural setting and to lose her three closest friends is rough. Olivia's school situation needs to change too and today we looked at a new school for her. We are excited about it and waiting to see if we can afford it based on the final price of tuition.
Obviously a lot going on! In addition to tomorrow's meeting, I am putting on a cool late-night Valentine's event this Friday, and our Annual General Assembly is this Sunday. Busy times! Thank you for your prayers and support. We appreciate you so much!! Bonne nuit. - Teal
