Frigid Temps on Tap for Marathon Saturday
An arctic blast may not be best for a marathon runner, but Saturday's Mississippi Blues marathon will begin bright and early at 7am downtown - cold air or not. This year's course takes runners through downtown and out to Jackson State before
picking up the original course and winding through Belhaven eventually
finishing downtown. At least 2,000 runners from 46 states and
five countries will compete during the 26.2 mile marathon. More than
600 soldiers ran the first wave of the Blues Marathon Monday in Tikrit,
Iraq. It was a first for the event.
The Fondren Express will be on hand to help runners and organizers celebrate Saturday night with a Blues Crawl, stopping at local watering holes, where libations and music will be readily on tap. See msbluesmarathon.com for more details.

him, all brought to life through archival film footage and sound clips.
This event includes a live performance by blues musician Jerry Fair,
who will showcase BB's signature sound. The series takes place at the Millsaps College Ford Academic Complex. The cost is $10.
