Trolley Running Neighborhood Route During Unwrapped
It's the holiday celebration everyone looks forward to, and the Fondren Express is going mobile this year! Fondren Unwrapped, the annual Fondren Renaissance holiday open house, takes place next Thursday night and the trolley will be on route. Last year, we were part of the FRF/BankPlus hospitality area, but this year, we'll run our neighborhood route, thanks in part to Pearl River Glass Studios and their Cedars show. That means that from 5pm-9pm, you'll be able to board the trolley for free, and ride right to the heart of the party! The sounds of the season will be blasting and the heat will be toasting...and you won't have to search for parking! Look for our trolley signs to locate your nearest stop. And see the map at our website, FondrenExpress.com. |

MAEA Conference Offering Trolley Tour of Fondren Galleries
The Mississippi Art Education Association's annual conference began last night in Jackson,
and the Fondren Express is proud to be a part of the activities. Early today, a
group of art educators boarded the trolley at the Mississippi Museum of Art for
a tour of area studios and galleries. This optional pre-conference activity
welcomed teachers from all over the state and at its leisurely, laid back pace,
fit the conference's theme of "renewing the artist in you." Art
educators who attend the conference will get the chance to exchange lesson
plans and ideas, and hear from Mississippi artist
David Lambert.

Millsaps Students Serve Community
As part of Sigma Lambda's Service & Leadership Week,
Millsaps students recently volunteered their time and talents at multiple
charities in the Jackson community including Stewpot
Ministries, The Good Samaritan Center, the Ronald McDonald House, Bethlehem Center, Mustard Seed and Habitat for
Humanity, as well as collecting children's books for a Reach Out and Read book
drive.
Dr. Brit Katz, vice president and dean of students, noted that Service
& Leadership Week is an excellent example of the community service-activism
that is a core value of the Millsaps
College student
experience. "Hundreds of students invest thousands of hours each year in
support of less fortunate communities. We strongly encourage our students to
involve themselves in the worlds they wish to change," Katz said. "Through
Service & Leadership Week, change is manifested in their commitment,
concern, care, and compassion."

Benefit Concert Slated For Dec 12
Mississippi's Ronald McDonald House will be the benefactor of an upcoming concert on December 12. Kate Campbell and John McCutcheon will perform live at the Belhaven Performing Arts Center in Jackson. Campbell's eloquent gift for storytelling has drawn repeated
comparisons to southern writers such as Eudora Welty, Flannery O'Connor and
William Faulkner. McCutcheon is America's balladeer. His songs sing of the nation's heritage. His words channel the conscience of our people into
streams of poetry and melody. Tickets are $25 and available at Ticketmaster outlets or charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000. Tickets are also available at BeBop Records or by phone at 601-981-5000 or 601-969-3181.
