Have it Your Way! Custom Tours Available
When a group of old friends wanted a way to reacquaint this past weekend, they booked a hotel, and then they booked the Fondren Express. The group of eight, friends with Jackson ties, made a weekend of the Fairview Inn, Walker's, the Mayflower Cafe, and a Friday night ride through Jackson. And when they booked the trolley, they had a specific request: could you base a tour around Eudora Welty and the places she lived, loved, and frequented? Our reply was a resounding yes, with stops at her Belhaven home, the former Jitney 14, and her final resting place, Greenwood Cemetery, among others.
Could we plan a tour for you? Our creative department will do the research and uncover the facts and intricate details that make these Jackson landmarks special. And once you climb on board, history and culture come alive during your CUSTOM guided tour! Visit us at FondrenExpress.com to learn more.

Gutenberg Musical Features...Me!
A quirky comedy now playing at New Stage Theatre in Jackson got an audience outburst from a spectator last night: me! No, I wasn't pulling a stunt like that other Ron in the news recently. This time, it was all planned, and part of Gutenberg, a play about a Broadway musical on the life of the inventor of the printing press. Danny Dauphin and Turner Crumbley take the leads, but the cameo part of "Broadway producer" is being played by "notable Jacksonians" each night of the play's run. To say I was flattered is an understatement! Watch for some of our friends to take on the role as well (may we recommend Friday's performance?!)
Gutenberg plays through the 27th. For tickets, showtimes, and more, visit NewStageTheatre.com. Oh, I should mention...New Stage is one of our newest community partners. To them, we say, "welcome aboard!"

Magazine Touts 25 World Changing Students
Look out world, here they come! Portico Jackson is taking a glimpse into the future and introducing us to 25 students they say will change the world. The group, from all over the metro, was nominated by their respective high school counselors, teachers, and principals and touted as "the cream of the crop." Also in the issue, young Jackson cellist Nat Smith is featured as he runs in impressive musical circles, including working with famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Rounding out the September edition is a write up on the centennial of Piney Woods Country Life School in southern Rankin County. As always, find regular features on art, style, and more in Portico Jackson, on newsstands now and available on board the Fondren Express!
