Hello!
Welcome to Express Mail, the newsletter of the Fondren Express Trolley. In this edition, we take an area tour with planners, star in an upcoming film, help one of our favorite causes, and get ready to scrap, gridiron style! Read on to find out more! |
Event Planners Take Downtown Tour
It was show and tell for the Fondren Express yesterday as we had on board a host of meeting and event planners, part of the Metro Jackson Attractions Association. The group was promoting the many uses of the trolley and the places to see and things to do in town during their monthly meeting. While on board, we gave a tour of downtown Jackson, highlighting the many improvements and developments in the capital city.
As the MJAA found out, there are so many ways to utilize the trolley - from tours to parties, weddings to dinners, fundraisers, school events or any event you create! Visit us online to find out how the Fondren Express can be a part of your next event.

Short Film "Sense" Features Fondren Express
The Mississippi Film & Video Alliance awards several small grants
each year to aspiring Mississippi filmmakers. This year, one of the
grants went to Fondren resident Beth Kander. Her short film, "Sense,"
explores what people notice - and don't notice - in the world right
around them. "Sense" features several memorable characters... including me and my faithful trolley, The Fondren Express! The film is
a quirky, affectionate story that also highlights some colorful,
charming Fondren spaces. In post-production now, "Sense" will
screen at the MFVA annual screening event. It will also be submitted to
festivals such as Crossroads. This film could not have happened without
the support of the MFVA, the Fondren Express, and local businesses from
Sal & Mookie's to Josh Hailey Studios. Stay tuned for more
information about when and how you can see the local talent, local
spaces, and local love highlighted in "Sense"!

Good Sam Seeking Food, Monetary Donations
One of our
favorite organizations, The Good Samaritan Center, is seeking your
help. Due to the state of the economy, Good Sam is serving more and
more in
need. Their supply of meat, vegetables, and canned goods is extremely
limited at
this time. Good Sam
serves at least 250 men, women, and children a month with groceries throughout
the length of their emergency. They need your help to restock our food pantry with meat, veggies,
non-perishables, and canned goods. If you or your group would like to help
by donating, call The Good Samaritan Center at 601-355-6276, or, if you would like to donate monetarily, visit GoodSamaritanCenter.org
