What's For Lunch? Ride the Trolley!
The Fondren Express may
not travel the globe everyday, but the choices for lunch do, and we want to
take you out for that flavor fix! Whether it's Italian, Mediterranean,
Vegan, Southern classic, or anywhere in between, the trolley route runs past over
20 dining choices between 11am-2pm Monday - Friday. And if price is your
point, you can choose from a 99 cent value to a sit down creation that may
leave little room for your nighttime meal! There's a world of flavor in our
funky little neighborhood, and getting to it means a 75 cent round trip
ride. Our route turns you around in less than an hour, and our
recommendations for what you crave may have you on board several days a
week. And that's fine by me. Just grab me a doggie bag! Find our route map and a
list of area restaurants at our website, FondrenExpress.com.

Batson Benefits From Carnival
Fondren favorite Sal & Mookie's was in a celebratory and giving spirit last Saturday as they observed their second anniversary with a street carnival, a fund raiser for Blair Batson Children's Hospital. The New York style pizza and ice cream joint raised $1,061 and says they had
a wonderful time doing it together as one community. On hand for the festive day were air jumps, a magician,
a dunking booth, pie throws, a cake walk, ring toss, face painting, bag toss, giant
bubbles, the Fondren Express, and three pizza eating contests (kids,
tweens and adults) and an ice cream eating contest!
Kudos go out to winners Courtney McGowan
in the 8 and under pizza contest, Alex Good, the age 9-15 pizza winner (2nd
place finisher Gabe Starr takes the gift card prize), and Jamie Evans, adult
pizza contest winner. Morris Mermelstein was the winner in the adult ice cream
eating contest. Sal & Mookie's owners Jeff Good and Dan Blumenthal say congrats to all the winners and thank all of their customers who came with their families and made their first street
carnival a huge success!

This ranking makes St. Dominic's #1 in cardiac services in the state for the second year in a row and in the top 10% of hospitals nationwide. The hospital's outstanding team of clinicians and support staff is on an unending quest to improve the outcomes associated with cardiac patients. The 2009 HealthGrades study also ranks St. Dominic's #1 in the state for treatment of stroke. The Mississippi Heart Institute (MHI) at St. Dominic's conducted its first open-heart surgery in 1974 and boasts 35 years of experienced cardiac care.
