Fondren's Favorite Neighborhood Fest, Arts, Eats, & Beats TONIGHT
With art, food, and music, Arts, Eats, & Beats brings the neighborhood togetherfor a night of fun fit for the whole family. With an artists' market on State Street, vendors & familiar neighborhood eateries serving delicious food, and stage after stage of music, Arts, Eats, & Beats has become a favorite of the funky, vibrant neighborhood called Fondren. Main stages will be located at Fondren Court and Kolb's Cleaners (we've got the exclusive lineup below). Add to this all the open houses, late shopping opportunities, and giveaways (make sure to play Find It In Fondren), and you've got a fantastic night on tap! Did we also mention that we are picking up riders in the neighborhoods near the Central Business District and dropping you off right in the middle of it all? That happens from 5-9:30pm, and it's free! Look for the trolley stops posted along the route (and here's a map that you can print out as well.)

Students Play Role in Arts, Eats, & Beats
If you've never been to Arts, Eats, & Beats, here's another great reason tonight: to support students who are expressing themselves creatively. At Fondren Guitars, owner Patrick Harkins has a lineup of guitar, drum, and other students who will perform on his outdoor stage. This, Harkins says, gives the kids an audience for which they can show off their skills. "It's a real thrill for them,' he adds, "being in front of maybe the biggest crowd they have ever played for." At past Fondren After 5 events, Harkins has invited his students on stage to join the jam session.
Further north at Fondren Place/Duling School, Parents for Public Schools and the Ask 4 More Arts Collaborative along
with Jackson Public Schools' Partners in Education, will be providing an
opportunity for JPS high school art students to exhibit and sell their
artwork. The show
and silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. with winning bids announced
at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited. The school art departments and the artists will share
the auction proceeds equally.
