Trolley Welcomes Zoo On Board
The first quarter of the new year finds The Fondren Express welcoming our latest non-profit benefactor, The Jackson Zoo. The Jackson
Zoological Park
has been a leading family attraction for people across Mississippi for almost a century! It boasts
an animal collection representing over 200 species and more than 800
individual animals. Situated within the
historic 110-acre Livingston Park, the Jackson Zoo welcomes approximately 200,000
visitors a year. In 2007, the Jackson Zoo was named "Travel
Attraction of the Year" at the Governor's Conference on Tourism.
This year,
the Zoo will celebrate its 90th Birthday, with new construction, special exhibits, and more. The Fondren Express is proud to be a part of promoting the wonderful educational and enrichment programs the zoo provides to the people of Mississippi and visitors from all over. Pick up a zoo brochure while on board the trolley and visit them on-line at JacksonZoo.org.

NAACP Charter Among Busy Winter List
2009 marks the centennial for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and a recent delegation from across the state found themselves on board the Fondren Express. NAACP members from 77 counties came together in Jackson for their annual legislation day, where they expressed concerns to Mississippi's lawmakers about issues facing their communities. The group of 50 enjoyed a downtown Jackson overview, and were chartered to The Roberts Walthall on Capitol Street for lunch at the hotel's restaurant.
The Fondren Express was also recently chartered by the Mississippi Press Association, and will tonight safely shuttle medical students from UMC to Hal and Mal's for their annual Ambulance Chase Ball.

Fondren Focus: Meet John Windsor
Small towns have a way of shaping the lives of their residents, no matter where they eventually land. So it's no surprise that a north Mississippi man brings his way of life to his career here in Fondren. He's John Windsor, one of the
partners behind Nixon, Luckett, Gianola, and Windsor, a city based law firm
with small town ideals. Windsor
was born and raised in Corinth,
Mississippi and spent time as an
investment advisor and teacher before rerouting his path - toward law
school. He ran in the democratic primary
for secretary of state in 2007, and worked in the attorney general's office
before redirecting again, this time opening a law office in Fondren. Windsor
says the firm mirrors the values and practices of the small town attorney -
well versed in a number of areas and acting as advocate, counselor, and advisor
to its clients. He says it took him
three years after moving to Jackson
in 2003 to realize Fondren was the place to be.
Windsor and his wife Claire live on Council Circle and he's on the board of
directors for OurFondren. In his spare time, Windsor follows politics and plays tennis. And his firm, online at FondrenLawyer.com, is
a proud sponsor of the Fondren Express.
