OurFondren Serves Community
Monday was a day of service across the nation, and the Fondren Express was proud to participate along with OurFondren in a neighborhood cleanup. Beautification committee chair Lisa Harvey White led a group of around 20, replanting bushes and flowers in the Central Business District, and cleaning up medians and planters around the streets of Fondren. The trolley chartered participants from the old McRae's parking lot to various job sites around the community. This gave workers a chance for comradery, a place to warm up, and a common transport for tools including saws, rakes, shovels, brooms, and bags. The effort was fueled by the call for a national day of service in honor of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The renowned civil rights leader was born in 1929 in Atlanta and assassinated in Memphis in 1968.

RainbowGrocery to Expand Store, Offerings

There's good news from our neighbors at the bottom of the hill. Rainbow Natural Grocery Cooperative will be expanding into the retail
space formerly occupied by Fondren Traders!
The new departments planned for this space will be an expansion of the
products and services offered by the cooperative. Renovations will begin immediately with an opening scheduled for
February. Rainbow CEO Luke Lundemo says this is great news for those who have learned the secrets to good health. "Our members," he tells us, "realize that
eating healthy and getting exercise is the best and least expensive health
care plan available." And speaking of the co-op faithful, Rainbow Natural Grocery Cooperative has continued to grow, even in
these difficult economic times. Lundemo says membership is now at an all-time high of over
4,125 households.
Rainbow Natural Grocery Cooperative has always featured only the highest quality
foods, grown organically and without harmful additives. Now with over 340
staple items throughout the store marked down with big member discounts, the
grocery is also offering great values as well.

The auto show will feature a collection of exciting new model and
pre-production vehicles, concept cars, specialty vehicle displays,
alternative fuel vehicles and family-style entertainment. Attendees are
