Invading the British Media 2008 Gaylord College Dean Joe Foote and Dr. Ralph Beliveau escorted 11
students for a two-week British Media Tour to London, June 1 through
June 13th. The tour was conducted as a special summer session and
students earned three credit hours for participating. Paris and Bristol

Holmes Receives Top 10 Award from the Scripps Howard Foundation Baxter Holmes, senior journalism major from Tuskahoma, Oklahoma has been named to the Scripps Howard Foundation's Top 10 Journalism Students in the country.
He will receive a $10,000 scholarship from the foundation. The official press release from SHF will be released in September. Read more about Holmes.
Alumna Holly Bailey Covers the McCain's Less than five years after serving as an intern in the Washington bureau of Newseek, Holly Bailey is following Senator and Mrs. McCain around the world as Newsweek White House Correspondent. She had the cover story from the June 30 issue of Newsweek and was on MSNC discussing her profile of Mrs. McCain. Read the article and watch the video from MSNBC here.
Faculty Delve Into Summer Research and Conferences Worldwide Ever wonder what your professors did in the summer? Contrary to the
popular notion, faculty don't necessarily have the whole summer off for
vacation. Some will manage to squeeze in a week or so of family
vacation time, but most like Dr. Katerina Tsetsura (above) are hard at work on various research projects

Oklahoma Institute for Diversity in Journalism Thirteen high school students from across Oklahoma recently completed a week-long journalism immersion program at the Gaylord College. The fifth annual program was jointly created by the Gaylord College, Ethics and Excellence in Journalism and the Dow Jones Newspaper Fund.
J. Madison Davis Named President of International Association of Crime Writers At the quadrennial congress of the International Association of Crime
Writers (Spanish acronym AIEP) held in Frontignan, France, June 25-29,
Professor J. Madison Davis was elected to a four year term for president. In addition, the 2010 cogress will be held in Norman. Read more about the association.
Advancing the Profession Around the World
Dr. Natalie Tindall and the Gaylord College are helping communicators half-way around the world by donating new and used communication resources like textbooks, CDs, software books and professional magazines to the Population Media Center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The PMC is open to any professional communicator and serves the general business community. To date more than 300 items and several hundred pounds have been donated and will soon be shipped. Bob Dotson Receives Murrow Award for Writing NBC's Bob Dotson is one of 54 journalists honored with an Edward R. Murrow award by the Radio-Television News
Directors Association. Dotson is recognized for his American Story reports on the Today Show.
While Dotson is not an OU alumni, the Gaylord College is the holder of a video archive of his early work. Dotson began his career in the 1960s at WKY-TV (now KFOR-TV) in Oklahoma City. Watch a video of Bob Dotson from Poynter Online.
