Scholarships Make Bright Futures HappenThe Gaylord College awarded more than $160,000 in scholarships to 120 students at the annual scholarship luncheon this spring. The scholarships ranged in amount from $1,000 to $4,000 per academic year with a few single-semester awards for $750 each. Scholarships like the Brad Edwards Memorial Scholarship being presented to Keegan Kirkhart (second from right) by Mary Ann Eskstein and daughter, Ashton Edwards, provide funds for today's students and keep the memory alive of family members like KFOR TV's Brad Edwards. Scholarships specifically for Study Abroad programs are also available. Most scholarships are endowed with the proceeds from the interest of the endowment used to pay the students. An endowed scholarship generates approximately five percent interest on the principal each year. For example, a $10,000 endowment will generate $500 per year for scholarships. For more information about establishing a scholarship, contact Kristen Lazalier at (405) 325-7670 or klazalier@ou.edu.
