OU Development Baton Passes From One Journalism Alum to Another  Interim Vice President of University Development Paul Massad ('60) will pass the baton to fellow JMC alum Jim "Tripp" Hall III ('86).
Effective March 1, Hall will assume the role of vice president for University Development and Alumni Affairs. Massad will become vice president emeritus, senior associate vice president and director of major gifts. Read more about these changes.

Gaylord Hall Phase II Topping Out Ceremony  A "topping out" ceremony - a tradition celebrating a milestone in
building construction - was held for Phase II of the Gaylord College on
Friday, Feb. 15, in the Edith Kinney Gaylord Library in Gaylord Hall.

New Design, New Address for Web site
Gaylord College recently launched our brand new Web site with a new design and brand for the college. The
redesign is part of a campus-wide effort to update the university's
overall web presence and provide a consistent interface for users
across all departments and colleges. The Gaylord College is
leading the way for other units by being the first College on campus to
use the new Content Management System (CMS) developed by the

Student Chosen for MTV Street Team Jill Penuel, journalism '08, has been chosen by MTV to represent
Oklahoma as campus correspondent during the current presidential
election year.MTV picked one young journalist from
each state to report on the presidential election year as part of
"MTV's Choose or Lose" campaign. Jill will be reporting from Oklahoma

Faculty & Students Receive BEA Awards Gaylord College broadcasting Professor Scott Hodgson and five students will receive honors from the Broadcast Education Association
(BEA) in the BEA Festival of Media Arts April 17th in Las Vegas.
The Gaylord College tied with one
other school for the most awards received in the 2008 program and will
receive awards in four of the six video categories. Read more about the awards.

Guest Speakers at Gaylord Hall We regularly bring in special guest speakers from across all jmc disciplines as part of our ongoing committment to provide students exposure to professionals inside and outside the classroom.
Already this semester Orville Schell, former dean of the graduate school of journalism at UC-Berkeley, and Doug Feaver, veteran journalist and blogger with the WashingtonPost.com have spoken with students. Coming for March are Nicolas Kristof of the New York Times and Phil Harding formerly of the BBC. |
