summer 2011This upcoming weekend is full of unique and fun activities to enjoy with your family from Taste of Downtown and American Music Show, which starts Friday evening to the 32nd Annual Women's Distance Festival and Children's Fun Run to a performance of The Princess Journey (and a make-over opportunity for the princess in your life!) at Hoogland Center for the Arts.  

   

The Illinois State Museum offers another Super Saturday with Whimsical Art as the Kids Fun Runtheme from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. free of charge. If the weather cooperates, head out to Island Bay Yacht Club for their Tin Man Regatta

Begins at 8:00 a.m. Come buy fresh fruits and vegetables from a variety of vendors. Held Wednesday and Saturday mornings through October.  Adams Street in downtown Springfield.

The Miller Lite American Music Show will present a wide variety of Americana musical acts, including folk, authentic 1940's era western swing, southern alternative country and lo-fi rock styles.

The Princess Journey

Saturday, July 9th at 2:00 p.m. The Princess Journey
(With A Royal Makeover for Every Princess at 1:00 p.m. with an added cost of $15)

The performance is a children's ballet featuring Cinderella, Rapunzel, Tiger Lily, Snow White, Belle, Thumbelina, Buttercup and more! At Hoogland Center for the Arts. Sponsored by the Springfield Youth Performance Group.

Adventure Village Amusement ParkSaturday, July 16th: Adventure Village Amusement Park Special Event. 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. Adventure Village is hosting a special food drive to help the St Martin DePorres Center in Springfield. If you bring two or more nonperishable food items per person to Adventure Village, you can purchase a "Ride All You Want" wristband that will be good from Noon to 3 PM for $5.00 each.
