Kids in the Kitchen, this Saturday, April 18, 2009, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Lincoln Land Community College Cafeteria. For ages 4-12. No pre-registration required. Parents and kids! Parents will attend a seminar to learn about healthy food choices and cooking while the kids do activities (wear comfy clothes) and do some cooking of their own. YMCA Healthy Kids Day and Community Festival on April 24th from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Springfield YMCA, 701 S. Fourth Street. Activities will include a DJ, karaoke, bike raffle, carnival games, scavenger hunt, healthy living activities and educational fun family contests, giveaways and concessions (for a small fee). All events are free and open to the public.
Bark for Books! First Book Greater Springfield Event, Saturday, April 25th at Washington Park Pavilion. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. The walk starts at 10:15 a.m. $10 per walker. Kids and Pets FREE. All walkers are registered to win prizes! Dress up as your favorite storybook character! First Book-Greater Springfield is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing new books to underprivileged children. Rain Date: April 26.
Shoe La Polooza and Fashion Show Saturday May 2nd. Grab the gals and head to the Hilton Hotel in Downtown Springfield for a Fashion Show from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. or you can attend just the Shoe Show immediately following! Ticket sales and 20% of all shoe sales will benefit the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon which provides that beautiful music floating through the air in Washington Park.
Safe Family Saturday on May 2nd from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Southern View Park. Enjoy the FREE bicycle helmet giveway at this annual fun fair full of activities for your family.
