I can't believe August has arrived and Back to School sales are everywhere! Our summer has come and almost gone as fast as yours, but there is still just under a month of summer. Seize those remaining free moments! We enjoyed Knight's Action Park last Sunday and saw lots of Springfield Moms readers out there enjoying a "staycation" for the day. Can you smell the mini-donuts and corn dogs? Share with us your favorite things to do at the Illinois State Fair with your kids! What are your must-do and see places? How about the must eat? Illinois State Fair on Friday, August 8th through Sunday, August 17th. Grandstand Line-up; buy your tickets now! Details here. Unlimited Ride Passes: Buy your unlimited ride passes for the Illinois State Fair and a portion of your ticket will go directly back to our local chapter of the Children's Miracle Network. It's a great value for unlimited rides. Ticket price is $22. The ticket price includes rides in Adventure Village and the Carnival Midway - about 50 rides. Note: The Giant Slide, the Sky Glide and the Tram are NOT included. Tickets are good for both children and adults. (Ticket does not include admission.) Park Play Station at the Illinois State Fair
August 16th from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.The Illinois Association of Park Districts, Illinois Park and Recreation Association and the American Heart Association (as part of their Alliance for a Healthier Generation childhood obesity initiative) are presenting free, hands-on activities for children on Park District Conservation Day at the Illinois State Fair. Springfield Sliders: A nice endorsement from local mom, Kathy Jackson. "Check out the new Springfield Sliders games. County Market gives two FREE tickets out on select Family Day Sundays. They have kid activities going on during the games and a kids club for $5. Kids receive a free t-shirt, free hot dogs and more. They even have birthday parties, which are very reasonable."
